The Link (not the missing but the found)

I have been touting the benefits of using the PA CareerLink® as a one-stop local resource for job searching and advancing careers. Beyond the fact we have a killer website, we are your local resource, with offices usually within 20 minutes or so, where you can stop in (depending on your needs) without an appointment and use one of our many available computers to look for work, write a resume and cover letter, file for your unemployment, get hands-on training on computers, software, internet. Each office has a full-time staff ready and willing to help you with any of these needs.

BUT WAIT - THERE'S MORE!

Did you know CareerLink® is also MOBILE? Yes-sir-ee Bob, we have a mobile CareerLink® traveling office named (obviously) THE LINK. It travels far and wide throughout our area to bring all the services from Careerlink® to you. Well, not your house, but usually at your local library (so close enough for no-never-mind).

The Link is a mobile career center that provides services to each county in the Central PA workforce development area (WDA). It is equipped with seven computers, internet access, printing, and a presentation screen, and professional staff provides support for job matching and career guidance.

To see the monthly schedule, go to the NEWS page for my Google website and scroll through the list of events for the monthly flyer.

Better yet, check out the FACEBOOK page about it.

Just another extremely groovular way CareerLink® is the best toolbox you have to rock your job searches and career improvement activities.

Oh - did I mention FREE?

I have always thought that CareerLink needed to do more to let people know who we are and what we do. Sometimes it seems like the only people who know we exist (or think we only provide services) are the unemployed. While we offer more and more services along these lines, invaluable assistance, I will dare to say, CareerLink is so much more. YES - we have an excellent website to help the LOCAL job seeker find LOCAL employment. YES- we have on-site staff to provide personalized help with employment and unemployment services, Veteran assistance, job training, GED, and more. YES - we have a Computer Resource Area (or the CRA) for people who do not have access to computers for Unemployment tasks and job searching. YES - we have a roving, mobile computer lab that travels far and wide to bring our services to your town. Just look for 'The LINK,' an RV-sized vehicle cruising around. It doesn't get more convenient than that. But did you know that - NO - you DO NOT  have to be UNemp...

I'm on the road again!

There was a time (lo-these many years ago) when the only workshops I presented were live, face-to-face workshops in my classroom. It was a more participatory experience for all concerned. I loved interacting with the attendees.   However, the 'new normal' has changed things a bit. Seeing my smiling face in a little Zoom window (is now a main-stay. The havoc of the virtual workshops I'm afraid. While I am sure my enthusiasm still comes through, I miss helping people in a live, face-to-face setting.   So, not to be daunted by these obstacles. I have recently been taking some of my workshops on the road (coming now to a town near you)! This month alone I have presented at 3 different schools in our region.   On May 3rd, I joined some of my co-patriots at CSO to present résumé preparation and online job hunting tips at McCann Business school in Lewisburg. We spent about an hour presenting to several classes in a large lecture classroom.   On May 6th, I spent all day (a ...
